Tomorrow's Warriors Swing into Town!

The award winning London based jazz education outfit Tomorrow's Warriors will be faciliating a special  one day workshop for the members of  National Youth Jazz Wales on Saturday 30th April 2011 at the Urdd Centre Hall, Wales Millennium Centre. The young aspiring jazz musicians will benefit from the direction of workshop leader and jazz trumpet supremo Abram Wilson.  The end result will be a performance calypso inspired arrangement of one of Duke Ellington's famous signature tune's Caravan at the Butetown Bay Jazz Heritage Festival on Sunday 1st May at the  Wales Millennium Centre.  The NYJW will open the marathon concert at 12 pm with the musical director Percy Pursglove who will hand the baton to Abram for the ensemble's final tunes.

BBJ are sponsoring Radio Cardiff's popular mid week morning magazine show Women Stepping Out for the month of April. t The organisation is led by Faye Walker and Latifa Ferdinand who organise workshops for chilren and young people of African and Caribbean origin to instill them with pride about their African heritage.  The show  broadcasts every Wednesday from 11 am to 1 pm on Radio Cardiff 98.7 FM.  You can also listen and watch on line if you visit www.radiocardiff.org.uk. 

The show will  also interview  some of the performers at this year's Butetown Bay Jazz Heritage Festival line up.

Wednesday 20th April 2011  - Jazz violinist Heulwen Thomas of 5 Go Swing fame will talk about her work in the Welsh Jazz Scene and the resurgance of gypsy jazz music.

Wednesday 27th April 2011 - Original Bay Diva Li Harding will swing into the studio to talk about her career as one fo the best jazz and blues singers in the UK jazz scene and her upcoming performance at this year's Butetown Bay Jazz Heritage Festival.
