Butetown Bayside Jazz (BBJ)

BBJ was established in 2009 as a non for profit organisation to produce the Butetown Bay Jazz Heritage Festival and exists primarily to -  

  • Collate and preserve materials, stories and recordings relating to Tiger Bay’s jazz heritage
  • Celebrate and promote Tiger Bay’s rich jazz heritage through the provision of events, educational and social activities and the production of publications for the benefit of the local residents and future generations
  • Develop the skills of local residents through partnership working with public, voluntary and private sector organisations, agencies and groups.
  • Involve the local community in exploring, presenting and celebrating their jazz heritage
  • Promote Tiger Bay’s jazz heritage as a  vehicle for social cohesion
  • Work towards the elimination of all forms of discrimination 
  • Encourage and support under represented groups to participate in BBJ's activities
  • Establish national and international links with other bayside communities in furtherance of the above

BBJ work in partnership with a range of organisations, groups, venues, arts practitioners, music

educators and professionals to bring the very best  musicians and performers to Wales. 

BBJ work tirelessly to highlight the music acheivements of their local community and to provide

opportunites for local young musicians and performers to showcase their talents.
